Lieutenant General (Retired) Deepak Summanwar
Former Director General Military Intelligence, India

Deepak Summanwar recently retired from the Indian Army after thirty-nine years of service.

He has had varied experience as Director General Military Intelligence, Additional Director General Perspective Planning, and Additional Director General Public Information.

He has over twenty years of combat experience in the frontline and counterinsurgency environment. He has been decorated for gallantry and distinguished service five times. He has been awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. He has been awarded twenty medals during his service.

Deepak Summanwar is a graduate of the National Defense Academy, Defense Services Staff College, and the Army War College. He has schooled at the Doon School Dehradun and has a post graduate degree in Defense Studies from the University of Madras.

He has a Masters in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and Finance from the Vrije University, Brussels and the Solvay Business School. He has also completed the All India Management Association’s Strategic Management course and the Federation of Indian Industries’ program for independent directors.

Post retirement, Deepak, who has an extremely broad network of contacts, is engaged in establishing himself as an independent consultant and advisor.
