CASE STUDIES

PICA SEIZES US$15M IN COUNTERFEIT IMAGING SUPPLIES PRODUCTS IN ARGENTINA

PICA, in conjunction with federal authorities, investigated and supported raids on multiple locations throughout Buenos Aires, and Argentina, to dismantle an international, organized criminal syndicate engaged in printing and assembling counterfeit packaging and products.  This seizure impacted the sale of counterfeit imaging supplies in the entire Latin American Region.  Through this action, Argentine authorities helped recover lost tax revenue, interdicted the funding of organized crime and resultant money laundering, protected Argentine jobs and foreign investment.

PICA UNCOVERS MASSIVE DISTRIBUTION FRAUD IN GLOBAL MEDICAL PRODUCTS

Through an investigation spanning the globe, PICA has revealed a fraud involving hundreds of “front companies” that were diverting famous-brand medical products from Third World markets to the US, Canada, and Europe. Aside from the impact on manufacturers, this fraud has created health and safety issues, due to improper storage and handling of goods, compromise of sterile products, use of expired goods and instructions, and recall issues.

PICA UNMASKS INTERNET PORNOGRAPHY RING TARGETING YOUNG CHILDREN

Piercing the corporate veil of anonymity of an Internet-based porn provider, that was using images of cartoon characters to distribute porn to minors, PICA was able to identify the wrongdoers in Asia, Europe, and the US, and initiate prosecutions in these venues.  These images were not only being used to draw young children to pornography but were also lures for pedophiles seeking young victims through the Internet.
